Knights get non-league win over O’ville

CONVOY — The Crestview Knights ratcheted up the defense in a 50-37 win over the Ottoville Big Green during a non-conference game played Friday night.
The Knights outscored Ottoville in every quarter, leading 13-9 at the end of the first stop, 30-21 at the half, and 37-25 at the three-quarter mark en route to the victory.
Crestview got balanced scoring, with three players in double figures, led by Damian Helm’s 13 points. Freshman Connor Lautzenheiser and Tyler Bolenbaugh each added 10 points for the Knights. Ryan Honigford scored 14 points for Ottoville to lead all scorers, while Derek and Luke Schimmoeller each had 9 points on the night.
The Knights made 17 of 34 field goal attempts (50 percent) and were 11 of 13 from the charity stripe (84.6 percent). Ottoville was 12 of 28 from field goal range (42.9 percent) and made 10 of 15 free throw attempts (66.7 percent). Crestview dominated on the boards, bringing down 20 rebounds to just 7 for the Big Green, while both teams were about even on turnovers. The Knights lost the ball 9 times to 10 for Ottoville. Crestview had 7 steals to 3 for the Big Green and 6 assists against none for Ottoville.
With the win, the Knights go to 8-1 on the year, while Ottoville’s record now stands at 4-7 overall.
