Elks donate gifts

Van Wert Lodge 1197, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, has again this year adopted over 30 children, ages infant to 3 years of age, in the Van Wert area to help make their Christmas a little brighter.  Tags are placed on the lodge Christmas Sharing Tree that contain the items needed for the kids. This year the children of the Help Me Grow Program were the recipients of the Elks’ generosity. Members of the lodge take tags from the tree, buy and wrap the items and bring them back to the lodge. The members of the Christmas Caring Committee then deliver the packages to the location before their Christmas party begins. This has been a project of the lodge for several years and lodge members look forward to the Sharing Tree being put up. By participating in this project, the Van Wert Elks are able to show the community that Elks Care, Elks Share. Shown are wrapped presents ready for delivery to needy children. (Elks photo)
