Jerry Wenning
Jerry Wenning, 74, of Va Wert, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, December 31, 2012, at Leesburg Regional Medical Center in Leesburg, Fla.
He was born in Wapakoneta, the son of the late William “Bill” and June (Pfennig) Wenning. He married Alice (Oen) Wenning in Wapakoneta, and she survives in Van Wert. He is also survived by his daughter, Kris Hiser; two sons, Kevin (Joy) Wenning and Keith (Tracey) Wenning; five grandchildren, Sarah (George) Searfoss, Joshua Hiser, Caleb, Jessica, and Gabrielle Wenning; two great-grandchildren, Carissa and Olivia Searfoss; a sister, Judy (Richard) Clark; one brother, Jack Wenning; and other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandchildren Amanda and Naomi Hiser; a great-grandson, Andrew Searfoss; and one brother, Joe Wenning.
Jerry obtained an associate’s degree from Christian Life School of Theology and Seminary and graduated from radiology technology school at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima. He worked in the radiology department at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind., and was the radiology manager at Van Wert County Hospital and Coldwater Community Hospital, from which he retired.
Jerry was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserves for seven years, where he serves as a corpsman. He was active in Boy Scouts, where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and served as an assistant scoutmaster. He served as a coach and mentor to Youth Basketball and Youth Baseball. He had been a member of Knights of Columbus Council 6034, where he served as grand knight, and was president of Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship International, an elder and board member at Liberty Temple Church in Lima and a board member of Van Wert Youth for Christ.
Jerry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family, reading and studying the Bible, hunting, fishing, camping, Boy Scouting, softball, biking, canoeing, family get-togethers around the pool, world travel, the Ohio State Buckeyes, Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Browns.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, at Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert, with Pastor Jerry Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Van Wert Area Youth for Christ, 302 Bonnewitz Ave., Van Wert, OH 45891.
