VW wrestlers split with Kenton, Wapak

WAPAKONETA — The Van Wert wrestling team split a tri-match with Kenton and Wapakoneta on Thursday, beating the Wildcats 45-27, but losing to the Redskins 53-16.
Terrin Contreras, who was one of four Cougar wrestlers who won matches against both teams, broke the school record of 75 falls, and now has 78 for his career. Others who went 2-0 against Kenton and Wapak were Zack Thomas (220 pounds), Colten Royer (160 pounds) and Daniel Thompson (152 pounds).
