Lancer girls down Jefferson in NWC

DELPHOS — The Lincolnview Lady Lancer basketball team got out to a good start and then fended off a rally by Delphos Jefferson to defeat the Lady Wildcats 62-44 in Northwest Conference action on Thursday.

The Lancers had four players in double figures, led by the Dye sisters, Claire and Katie, who had 18 and 16 points, respectively. Kaitlyn Brant had 10 points for Lincolnview, while Kaylee Thatcher added 10 for the Lancers. Brooke Culp had 11 points for Jefferson, while Gabby Pimpas added 8 for the Lady Wildcats.

Lincolnview shot well from the field, knocking down 27 of 45 attempts (58.7 percent). The Lancers were 8 of 13 at the free-throw line (61.5 percent). The Wildcats made 15 of 47 field goal attempts (31.9 percent) and was 12 of 22 at the charity stripe (54.5 percent).

The Lancers dominated on the boards, bringing down 28 rebounds, 8 of those offensive boards, to 17 for Jefferson.

Both teams had more turnovers than they likely wanted, with the Wildcats losing the ball 22 times, to 26 for Lincolnview. The Lancers had 18 steals to 14 for Jefferson, while Lincolnview garnered 11 assists, to none for the Wildcats.

With the win, Lincolnview is now 11-4 overall and 3-2 in the NWC.
