Lincolnview girls’ basketball news

BLUFFTON — The Lincolnview Lady Lancers got the early lead and then held off a fourth-quarter rally to defeat Northwest Conference rival Paulding 49-38 on Thursday.

Lincolnview led 16-5 at the end of the first quarter and was up by 16 points, 24-8, at the half. The Lady Lancers added another two points to their lead, 38-20, heading into the final stanza, but Paulding made an 18-11 run in the fourth quarter to make things interesting for awhile.

Katie Dye led the Lancers with 12 points, while Julia Thatcher added 10 points and Dye’s sister, Claire, also scored 10 for Lincolnview. McCullough scored 13 points to lead Paulding.

The Lancers made 17 of 34 field goal attempts (50 percent), including 5 of 14 from three-point range (35.7 percent). Lincolnview was 10 of 14 (71.4 percent) from the free-throw line. Paulding was 12 of 34 from two-point range (35.3 percent) and made 3 of 7 three-point attempts (42.9 percent). The Lady Panthers were 11 of 18 at the line (61.1 percent).

Paulding had the edge in rebounding, with 20 boards to 18 for the Lancers, but Lincolnview had fewer turnovers, 20-24, than the Panthers. The Lancers also led in steals, 15-11, and had six assists, to none for Paulding.

With the win, Lincolnview is now 15-5 overall on the year and 6-2 in the NWC. Paulding is 0-8 in league play and 4-16 overall.

Lincolnview will next host Fort Jennings in a non-conference game next Tuesday and then play its final regular-season game at home next Thursday against NWC foe Spencerville.
