Honor Flight officials report scam

TOLEDO — Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio is reporting a scam targeted at area military veterans.

According to the organization, there have been reports that someone is calling World War II veterans in northwest Ohio and telling them that they have been selected for a Northwest Ohio Honor Flight, and then asking for the veterans’ credit card information.

Honor Flight Northwest Ohio flights are entirely free of charge to veterans and that includes World War II veterans, Korean War veterans, and all other veterans.

Furthermore, Honor Flight Northwest Ohio board members (and all other people associated with Honor Flight Northwest Ohio) would never ask for credit card information (over the phone, in an email message, or in person).
