Lancers 17-5 with Spencerville win

The Lincolnview Lady Lancers started a little slow, but got in gear in the second quarter as they downed Spencerville 68-51 in Northwest Conference girls’ basketball action on Thursday.
The Lancers are now 17-5 overall on the year tied for second place at 7-2 in the NWC. Spencerville is 3-19 overall and 1-8 in the league.
The Lady Bearcats had a slim lead, 19-17, at the end of the first quarter, but Lincolnview went on a 16-5 run in the second stanza to go up by nine points, 33-24, at the half. The Lancers upped their lead to 12 points, 48-36, at the three-quarter mark, and outscored Spencerville 20-15 in the final stanza to preserve the victory.
Lincolnview was led by Claire Dye’s 21 points, while Julia Thatcher and Kaitlyn Brant added 12 points for the Lancers and Katie Dye scored 11 points for the home team. Spencerville was led by Abby Freewalt, who scored 15 points in the game, while Schylar Miller had 11 points and Emilee Meyer added 10 counters for the Lady Bearcats.
Lincolnview had a hot hand from the field, making 29 of 53 field goal attempts (54.7 percent), including 4 of 8 from three-point range (50 percent). Spencerville made 19 of 44 from field goal range and made 5 of 12 three-point attempts (41.7 percent). From the free throw line, the Lancers were 6 of 9 (66.7 percent), while Spencerville made 8 of 14 (57.1 percent).
The Bearcats led in rebounding, 26-20, while Spencerville had 23 turnovers to 15 for Lincolnview.
