Knights get win over New Knoxville

The Crestview boys’ basketball team exploded offensively in the third quarter to turn what was until then a close game into a rout against New Knoxville on Saturday. The Knights won 60-36.

Crestview led 14-10 at the end of the first quarter and were up by six points, 26-20, at the half. The Knights then outscored New Knoxville 23-8 in the third period to go up by 21 points, 49-28, heading into the final eight minutes of play and closed it out with an 11-8 fourth quarter.
Crestview had four players in double figures, led by Connor Lautzenheiser’s 17 points. Damian Helm scored 12 points, Tyson Bolenbaugh had 11 points and Cam Etzler added 10 points for the victorious Knights. Jake Allen led the Rangers with 14 points, while Shane Topp scored 8 for New Knoxville.
Crestview was 21 of 39 from two-point range (53.8 percent), including 7 of 17 from beyond the arc (41.2 percent). The Knights made 11 of 15 free throws on the night (73.3 percent). The Rangers made 13 of 41 two-pointers (31.7 percent), were 5 of 22 from three-point range (22.7 percent) and canned 5 of 8 free throws (62.5 percent).
Crestview outrebounded the Rangers 26-15 and had 7 turnovers to 10 for New Knoxville.
With the win, the Knights go to 18-3 on the year, while Knoxville is now 9-10 overall.
