New bill regulates Internet cafe gaming

COLUMBUS — Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine thanked the Ohio House of Representatives for its passage today of HB 7. The bill, which would establish strict limits on sweepstakes gaming at Internet cafes, passed by a vote of 66-29.

Attorney General DeWine issued the following statement after the vote:

“I thank Speaker Batchelder, Representative Huffman, and the Ohio House of Representatives for taking action on the unregulated gambling taking place at internet cafes across Ohio,” the attorney general said. “HB 7 is a major step forward to protect Ohio consumers and to provide clarity to law enforcement. I look forward to and encourage swift passage of HB 7 in the Ohio Senate.”
