AKRON — Bayley Tow, a sophomore at Lincolnview High School, competed in the Division II and III state indoor meet in Akron on Saturday night and qualified in the 3200-meter run.

Tow came into the race ranked 15th, but ended up running a career best and placing ninth overall, just missing the medal stand by one place.

He ran a time of 9:49, which lowered his previous best by nearly 18 seconds. Lincolnview’s current outdoor record for the 3200-meter run is 10:01, which was set back in 1981.

“Bayley has worked incredibly hard this off-season and after such a strong cross country season, certainly deserves to be recognized for his accomplishment,” said Coach Matt Langdon. “He ran an amazing race and showed incredible toughness and represented Lincolnview extremely well.

“It will be exciting to see him run the outdoor season,” Coach Langdon added. “To run under 10 minutes as a sophomore is something to be very proud of and something that just does not happen that often.”
