Garden club donates to Wassenberg

The Van Wert Evergreen Garden Club has donated $1,500 to the Wassenberg Art Center Art-fitter Campaign to facilitate the construction of a water feature for the front of the Van Wert Armory, which will soon be home to the Wassenberg Art Center.

The armory is currently being renovated to serve as the art center’s new location. The water feature, an approximately 6-by-10-foot reflecting pond, will be located in conjunction with the veterans memorial area and provide a small seating area.

“We are extremely thankful for the Evergreen Garden Club’s generosity and interest in creating a beautiful green space at the new, expanded Wassenberg Art Center,” said Wassenberg Director Hope Wallace. “It’s great to see the community support ongoing improvements and we can’t wait to see the finished project.”

The Wassenberg Art Center, is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that provides art outreach, exhibits and programming for the Van Wert area and has launched the Art-fitter campaign as a fundraising program which partners with local businesses, organizations, clubs and individuals to help provide equipment, furnishings, landscaping and other items required to complete the new community art center.

Contributors will have their names prominently displayed on or near the donated item or area. The Van Wert County Foundation is currently funding improvements such as roofing, HVAC, new windows, electrical and interior upgrades to the armory. The Wassenberg Art Center plans to relocate sometime this summer.
