Betty L. Whitted

Betty L. Whitted, 76, of Rockford, died at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

She was born February 10, 1937, in Knoxville, Tenn., the daughter of the late Johnny and Rosie Ann Ethel (Davis) Vann. In 1953, she married Thurman Whitted, who preceded her in death on October 5, 1998.

Survivors include two sons, Thurman Whitted Jr. of Rockford and John (Pat) Whitted of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Vera Whitted of Rockford; one brother, Fred (Gloria) Vann of Rockford; a sister, Donna (Eddie) Houk of Sterling Heights, Mich.; three sisters-in-law, Nancy Lee Vann of Powder Springs, Ga., and Ina and Sarah Whaley, both of Sevierville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, John H. and Franklin D. Vann, also preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Marvin Schwartz officiating.
