Community band seeks new members

VW Area Community Concert Band news

On Monday, April 15, the Van Wert Area Community Concert Band will begin rehearsals for the upcoming concert season. New this year, rehearsals are held each Monday in the new Van Wert High School band room, located off Ohio 118, from 7:30-9 p.m.

The band is open to all those who want to play their instruments in a concert band. Current members vary in age and playing ability, but have the common interest of performing and making great band music.  The members come from Van Wert, Lima, Delphos, Convoy, Payne, Chattanooga, Middle Point, Decatur, Ind., and Rockford. It truly is a Van Wert area band.

Retired Parkway Band director Richard Sherrick directs the band, and noted that the band’s goal is to present a variety of music that is both musically enjoyable to the listener and challenging to the performer.  For more information, call 419.363.2970, or just come to the first rehearsal.
