Local ‘National Library Week’ events set

Brumback Library in Van Wert and its branch libraries will celebrate “National Library Week” the week of April 14-20. This year’s theme, entitled “Communities Matter at Your Library,” seeks to recognize the contributions of the nation’s libraries, while also promoting library use and support.

National Library Week began in 1958 as an event sponsored by the American Library Association. Each year, a variety of programs and activities are held at libraries across the United States to celebrate the resources, activities and services offered by libraries to the public.

Several activities and events have been planned at the main library in Van Wert and at each of the five branch sites in conjunction with the weeklong celebration. A schedule of activities includes the following:

MONDAY, APRIL 15

Main Library

• 11 a.m. – Calvary Preschool Story Time
• 6 p.m. – Infant and Toddler Story Time
• 6:30 p.m. – Family Story Time, with guest readers Van Wert Fire Chief Jim Steele, Vantage Early Childhood Education teacher Marcia Osenga, and St. Mary of the Assumption School kindergarten teacher Therese Tate.
• Walk-in crafts offered throughout the day in the library’s Children’s Department.

Willshire Branch

• 5-8 p.m. – Open house.
• 6 p.m. – Children’s Story Time.

TUESDAY, APRIL 16

Main Library

• 9:20 a.m. – Vantage Preschool Story Time
• 10 a.m. – Infant and Toddler Story Time
• 10:30 a.m. – Preschool Story Time
• 1 p.m. – Vantage Preschool Story Time
• Walk-in crafts offered throughout the day in the Children’s Department

Middle Point Branch
