Elks donate to Willshire park project

Van Wert Elks news

Van Wert Lodge 1197, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, recently donated $750 to the Village of Willshire.

The Village of Willshire used a grant from the Elks to purchase materials to re-roof the pavilion in the village park. Shown are Michael C. Stanley (left), Elks lodge community service grant chairman, and Willshire representative Craig Brown. (Elks photo)

The monies were used by the village to purchase materials for a new pavilion roof at its park.   The new roof will provide needed protection for the pavilion and will provide many hours of enjoyment for the citizens of Willshire.

The monies are distributed by the Ohio Elks Association in the form of a community service grant. The Ohio Elks Association received monies each year from the Elks National Foundation, a perpetual trust fund established many years ago by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Contributions to the Foundation are made each year by more than 1 million Elks and their families and friends from more than 2,000 Elks Lodges across the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Philippines.

Van Wert Elks Lodge is proud to be able to assist the Village of Willshire with this important project. With this donation, through community service grants, Van Wert Elks Lodge has donated to the communities within Van Wert County $28,578.28 in total grants since the inception of the program.
