As May arrives for students so do many new activities and events.  The Music Department’s Pops Concert is tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditoria. There are performances including Knight Vision, Choir, Jazz Band and Concert Band.  Also Pops Concert will include senior ensembles by Kate Bauer and Elyse Klinger, and a group consisting of Shelby Ripley, Alex Brown, Kevin Cook, Quintin Boullion, and Cody Klinker.  Cook said, “I’m super excited about Pops Concert and getting to perform with the guys, but at the same time its bittersweet since it will be my last performance.”

The Knights did an outstanding job at the Van Wert County Track Meet with the boys finishing second place, and the girls finishing third.  County event champions included Claire Zaleski in the 800m run, Jamie Moore and Copsey Bogle in Pole Vault, Josh Ream in Discus and Shot Put, Malcolm Oliver in High Jump and Long Jump.  There were also over a dozen individual PRs and a school record broken by Isaiah Kline, Preston Zaleski, Zach Jellison, and Malcolm Oliver in the 4×100 with a 45.00 second finish, beating the previous record set in 2011.  Zaleski said, “I was excited when we broke the record.  Now we just need to keep getting better and try breaking more records.”  Tonight the track team hosts Spencerville at 5 p.m.

Senior Adam Schumm participated in the State General Livestock Judging contest on May 1 and finished an outstanding fourth out of 753 contestants.  That’s the highest that a Crestview student has ever finished in the event.   In addition, junior Tanner Skelton finished sixth in Grain Management at Columbus.  He said, “It was a very fun learning experience, and I’m looking forward to achieving more next year.”
