Hats off, Van Wert!
The Van Wert Historical Society is excited to showcase two new exhibits during the month of May. “Our Mothers’ Hats” and “Postcards of Van Wert”. Both exhibits will run throughout the month. “Our Mothers’ Hats” will feature a variety of hats worn by women of Van Wert County. Visitors will see historical wedding hats, hats from the 40’s and 50’s and a late 1800’s field hat. Also on display will be photos and posters from a local millinery shop. The display can be found in the Annex Building. “Postcards of Van Wert” can be seen in the schoolhouse, log cabin, barn, Clark Mansion and the Niswonger Research Library. On May 19, Convoy native Cheryl Bauer, author of Post Cards of Van Wert, will be visiting with guests and signing her book at the Gift Shoppe of the Seven Oaks. Her book will be available for purchase. The Van Wert Historical Society is open every Sunday from 2-4:30 and by appointment. (Historical Society photo)
