Knights baseball takes conference championship

By Clare Mefferd
The varsity boys’ baseball team is coming to an end with their first tournament game tonight at 5 p.m. on their home turf. Last Thursday they faced off against LCC for the NWC championship and came out on top with a 1-0 win. With that win they remained undefeated in the NWC Conference and took the NWC championship title. Senior Venice Roberts said, “We’re all really excited that we won the conference. We set some goals for this year and that was one of them. It felt good to actually accomplish it.” They ended with a season record of 13-5.
With only three weeks left of school, Crestview had their annual Fun Day on Monday for the students. As usual, they had events such as the egg toss, balloon toss, relay race, watermelon eating contest and tug of war competition. But new events were added such as the three-legged race and a slip-n-slide. As usual the senior class came away with a victory with a total of 108 points.
Another thing that students may be looking forward to is the Relay For Life. Students get together with teams of 3-5 and compete to see who gets the most laps, all while fundraising for cancer. The Relay for Life will take place tomorrow, and the community is welcome to come out and join.
The varsity girls’ softball team wraps up their season tonight with a rescheduled game against Lincolnview on their home field. Junior Kirstin Hicks said, “I feel like this season went really well because even though we’re a young team, we made a lot of improvements.”
