Nurses’ group awards scholarships

The Van Wert Area Nursing Association awarded two $750 and one $500 nursing scholarships at their May Nurses Day celebration. These scholarships are given annually in a five county area surrounding Van Wert. The funds for these scholarships are mainly raised through our “Nurses Hit the Road” bus trip held each October.

This year’s recipients are Kaitlyn Kundart, Emily Osting, and Cassandra Schimmoeller. Kundart, who is from Delphos and is a junior at the University of Cincinnati, received $750. The second $750 scholarship was awarded to Emily Osting of Van Wert. Osting has completed her first year at Rhodes State College in Lima.

Cassandra Schimmoeller from Delphos was recipient of the $500 scholarship. She has finished her first year of studies at the University of Cincinnati.

Guest speakers were Dustin Frey, Alyssa Klausing, and Amie Liggett of Van Wert County Hospital’s speech therapy department. The group did a presentation on “Autism Communication throughout the Spectrum”.

Food was enjoyed by all attending and door prizes were awarded.
