Emmaline Whittington

Emmaline Whittington, 79, of Van Wert, died at 12:17 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born June 14, 1933, in Lafe, Ark., and daughter of the late Barnie T. and Eula May (O’Guin) Gribble. On May 28, 1954, she married Leon Whittington, who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include a son, Allen (Theresa) Whittington of Van Wert; one daughter, Angela Jaylene (Bruce) Albee of Middle Point; four brothers, Talma (Marilyn) Gribble, Melvin (Barb) Gribble, Alvin (Gail) Gribble and Lee (Lolita) Gribble, all of Grover Hill; a sister, Thelma (Ishmael) Shelton of Oakwood; four grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; seven great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Denzil and Verlin Gribble; and three sisters, Eladis A. Hinchcliff, Leona Busbey and Sliva Deckard, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, May 27, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Jim Burns officiating. Burial will be in Middle Creek Cemetery in Grover Hill.

Calling hours are from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home.
