VWCS staff give to programs

The last week of school at Van Wert City was a week filled with many activities. Students were busy with final projects, presentations, field days, programs, and final exams. Adult leadership took on a special fundraiser for the Brumback Library summer reading and YWCA summer food programs. “These are two worthy programs aimed at the young people of Van Wert and the families they represent,” said Van Wert Federation of Teachers representative Jeff Hood. “We have been able to donate in years’ past, but this year we tried to make an extra effort.” Instead of a dress down (casual) fundraiser for teachers only, Superintendent Ken Amstutz agreed to include the entire district — administrators, classified staff, and the teaching staff. Anyone wanting to dress in jeans or shorts the last week of school pitched in $5 a day. Employees raised a total of $3,000 to be split evenly between the YW and the Brumback Library.
