Grandparents’ Day celebrated by young Knights
By Joel Seip
Grandparents’ Day is a time greatly anticipated by both elementary students and grandparents alike. It’s a time for students to show their grandparents their daily school schedule and happenings around the school. “It’s an opportunity for grandparents to see what goes on in a school day,” says Elementary Art teacher Trista Semer. Elementary English teacher Gail Fennig commented that it shows grandparents “how the children transition between classes.” It seems a common theme around the teachers that grandparents have really come to appreciate the chance to see their grandchildren in action and get to see the new technology and materials used in the every-day class room. It also brings a chance for a little bit of “showing off” by the younger students as a chance for them to really prove that they have learned and have grown because of it.
Scheduling for next year is in the air. Crestview high school students are meeting with teachers and administrators to schedule classes for next year and work on plans for their future. There are major changes for classes in the Junior High side of the school. Plans to organize the Junior High into a middle-school system are under way. Teachers that sometimes taught both high school and junior high students are now being shifted to only teach one or the other. This has changed when some classes are being offered and who they are being offered by. Changes are in the air as some teachers announce their retirement. “Depending on who the next teacher is changes whether or not I will continue taking the class,” says Junior Noah Gebert. There is much confusion and shifting that can cause some hectic scheduling for next year and some uncertainty for new freshman and sophomore students interested in specific classes. However, with changes come new opportunities and fresh starts.
