A. Troy Hammond

A. Troy Hammond of Van Wert died at 12:55 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

He was born October 14, 1967, in Van Wert, the son of Judy Bowers of Van Wert and Jim Hammond of Convoy, both of whom survive.

Troy was a graduate of Crestview High School and Wright State University. He had formerly worked as a hydraulic lab technician for Commercial Intertech Corporation in Hicksville. He also belonged to Convoy United Methodist Church.

He was more than just a father, uncle, son and brother, but a great friend to all who knew him and a wonderful person who had been through a lot, yet could keep a positive attitude even when others had given up. He was an organ recipient in life, and in death he chose to be an organ donor. God has taken a wonderful soul home and he will be missed every day.

In addition to his parents, survivors include his stepmother, Treva Hammond of Convoy; a son, Justin Hammond, his pride and joy; two sisters, Nikki (Ben) Beougher of Convoy and Mary Jo (Dave Taylor) Hammond of Van Wert; two stepsisters, Carmen Hefner and Cicely Gasvoda; one stepbrother, Dominic Eddins; his aunt and uncle, Marsha and Dale Davies, who were always there for Troy; two nephews, Benjamin Beougher and Preston Hammond; two nieces, LaNae Beougher and Alexia Taylor; and special friends Dave and Becky Martz.

A brother, Lee; paternal grandparents Curt and Edith (Hertel) Hammond; and maternal grandparents Lowe and Mary (Leaser) Agler, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 11, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Greg Leigh officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, and an hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
