Delphos Police Dept. information

DELPHOS — Delphos police are seeking information on a home invasion-style robbery that occurred Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of South Canal Street at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday on report of a robbery there. According to Police Chief Kyle Fittro, two masked men ransacked two vehicles parked at the residence and then entered a garage on the property. Inside were two teenage boys, ages 18 and 16, and a 17-year-old girl, who were watching television in the garage, which had been converted to living space.

After they entered the garage, the robbery suspects reportedly confronted the teens and demanded money. At first, the victims believed the incident to be a prank and ignored the request for money. One of the robbers then became angry and assaulted the 18-year-old, causing injuries that later required medical attention.

Following the assault on the teen, the two men stole several items from inside the garage and then fled on foot carrying the stolen property. According to the victims, no weapons were shown during the incident.

Delphos police have put out descriptions on the two men. Both are white males, their mid- to late 20s, with the first approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing at least 200 pounds, with a stocky, muscular physique. The man was tattooed on both arms and had very short, “stubbly” hair that was nearly shaved bald. The second man was approximately 6 feet tall and slender, weighing approximately 150 pounds.

Anyone with information on the crime is urged to call the Delphos Police Department at 419.692.4015 or Van Wert County Crime Stoppers at 419.238.7867.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 cash for information leading to a conviction in the case, while Delphos police have added a reward of $500 for information that helps solve the incident.
