Bob Stevens tennis tourney revived

The Bob Stevens Classic Tennis Tournament is back again this year. The tournament, whose proceeds go to the American Cancer Society for cancer research and education, will run Friday through Sunday, August 2-4, at the Van Wert County Foundation Tennis Facility, adjacent to the Van Wert High School-Middle School complex.

Tournament divisions include men’s singles, men’s doubles and singles, men’s senior singles and doubles (50 and over as of August 2), women’s singles and doubles, women’s senior singles and doubles, mixed doubles, and junior boys’ and girls’ singles and doubles (18 and under as of August 2).

Entry fees are $15 for those 18 and under and college students, plus $5 for each additional event entered after the first event, while fees for adults are $25 for the first event, and $5 for each additional event entered.

A fun doubles event will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, August 3, for the casual tennis player at a cost of $10 per person. Prior registration is not necessary for this event.
