Proposal in a bucket
It’s not often that someone proposes marriage in the bucket of a fire department ladder truck, but that’s just what happened recently at the Van Wert Fire Department. City firefighter Chance Guisinger, a Botkins native, cajoled his high school sweetheart, Olivia Richard (above), into the bucket (it wasn’t easy, she’s afraid of heights) last Wednesday, ostensibly so he could show her where he lived near the fire station. After Guisinger got Olivia up in the bucket, he then had her turn around to see a sign made of king-size bed sheets on the roof of the fire station that read “Will You Marry Me”. Guisinger then got down on one knee (people still do), showed her the ring (below) and asked her to marry him. Olivia said “yes” and the couple, both graduates of Anna High School, took off for Botkins to tell their families the happy news. (photos submitted)
