Woman arrested for manufacturing meth

A Van Wert woman has been charged in connection with a methamphetamine lab allegedly operating in the city.

The Van Wert Police Department investigated information about a suspected meth lab located at 710 Cable St. After further investigation, the meth lab was located in the garage of the residence. A trained officer from the Van Wert City Police Department and a special agent from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation were called in to clean up the dangerous chemicals.
Keli L. Pontius, 26, a resident of that address, was arrested and charged with manufacturing methamphetamines, a felony of the first degree, and possession of chemicals for illegal assembly of dangerous narcotics, a felony of the second degree.
The charges were upgraded because both offenses were allegedly committed within close proximity to children.
Pontius was arrested and is currently incarcerated in the Van Wert County Correctional Facility.
