New physician starts Rockford practice

ROCKFORD — Van Wert Medical Services and the office of Family Medicine Associates announces that David Barnes, M.D., is joining Dr. Jerry Sell, Rona Dellinger, CNP, and staff in providing comprehensive and caring family healthcare in Rockford.

Dr. Barnes is board certified in family medicine, providing diagnosis, treatment and prevention of general medical health concerns. With the support of a dedicated team of professionals, he will serve as a primary healthcare practitioner to individuals and families of all ages.

Dr. Barnes, who began seeing patients this past Monday had his office at 506 S. Main St. in Rockford.  Regular clinic office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Dr. Barnes is bringing with him a passion for providing quality family medicine care. I look forward to him joining Family Medicine Associates, as I am confident his compassion will complement our caring team,” said Dr. Sell.

Dr. Barnes is a graduate of Northeastern Ohio University, College of Medicine in Rootstown. He completed his postgraduate residency at Toledo Hospital. During his residency, he served as chief resident overseeing the hospital’s resident responsibilities. He is also a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association.

Dr. Barnes served as a volunteer at Columbia Road Health Services providing free medical and clinical treatment to Central-American refugees, and at Lifeline Christian Mission providing medical treatment to individuals with social and economic needs. He has provided aid to an underprivileged family in his time at the Habitat for Humanity.

Dr. Barnes also served as a volunteer activities coordinator at Canton Christian Home, participating in activities and social events with the nursing facility’s elderly patients. His most recent work includes volunteering to mentor local youth at Madison Christian Church.

Dr. Barnes joins Family Medicine Associates after serving as a family practitioner at Family Practice of Toledo.
