KALIDA — The Van Wert High School golf team participated in the always tough Kalida Invitational tournament on Wednesday, finishing 12th out of 18 teams at Country Acres golf course.

After struggling early on, Cougar Justin Price regained his form, shooting an 84 on the 18-hole course. He was outpaced, though, by teammate Brandon Hernandez, who carded an 82 on the day. Lucas Etzler had an 84 on the day, while Nick Etter had 96 and Alex Miller carded a 117 for a total of 356.

Toledo Ottawa Hills won the match with a score of 292, led by tournament medalist Ben Silverman’s two-under-par 70.

The Cougars return to action on Friday at the Celina Invitational at the Fox’s Den golf course in Celina.
