Cougar golfers drop match to Shawnee
Van Wert golf news
LIMA — The Cougar golf team continued its struggles, dropping a Western Buckeye League away match to Shawnee by a score of 183-187.
Ian Hasting of Shawnee posted the low round at 41, followed by Van Wert’s Brandon Hernandez with a 44. The rest of the Van Wert golfers finished as follows: Adam Jurczyk 46, Justin Price 47, Lucas Etzler 50, Alex Miller 52, Nick Etter 55.
“Right now we are not competing very well,” said Van Wert Coach Jeff Hood. “Our four upperclassmen who have experience need to begin playing to last year’s average to even have a chance.”
With the loss, the Cougars move to 1-2 in the WBL, while Shawnee is now 2-1. Van Wert will be in action on Monday against an improving Kenton team at Willow Bend Country Club.
