George F. Weck

George F. Weck, 91, of rural Convoy, died at 7:26 a.m. Sunday, August 25, 2013, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born January 20, 1922, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Frederick and Clara Marie (Schumm) Weck. On August 3, 1947, he married Geraldine Delores (Brubaker) Weck, who preceded him in death on December 20, 2004.

Survivors include a son, Phillip Kent (Candace) Weck of Kennett Square, Pa.; two daughters, Gail Elaine (Bill) Jensen of Hebron, Ind., and Denise Lynne (Jim) Miller of Huron; one sister, Miriam Hofmann of Fort Wayne, Ind.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Henry Weck and Lester F. Weck; and a sister, Selma Merkle, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 29, at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Harrison Township, with Pastor Timothy Sims officiating. Burial will be in Evangelical Protestant Cemetery in rural Van Wert County, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honor guards of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
