Glenn D. Gehres

Glenn D. Gehres, 54, of Convoy, died at 9:37 p.m. Monday, September 2, 2013, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born May 24, 1959, In Van Wert, the son of the late W. Edgar and Alice I. (Baxter) Gehres. On June 28, 1980, he married Michelle “Chelle” (Kever) Gehres, who survives in Convoy.

Other survivors include three children, Justin (Amanda) Gehres of Green, Jared (Angela) Gehres of Powell and Courtney Gehres of Convoy; a sister, Deborah (Thomas) Schaffner of Van Wert; and three grandchildren, Ryan, Parker and Gavin Gehres.

A brother, John Edgar Gehres, died in infancy.

Glenn worked as a material handler at Eaton Corporation in Van Wert. He was a member and trustee of Convoy United Methodist Church. Glenn had a passion for the outdoors, whether it was tending his yard and garden, deer hunting, fishing in his pond or bird hunting with his dog, Duke, he was most comfortable in “the woods” – unless, of course, he was playing ball with his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 7, at Convoy United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Greg Leigh officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Friday, September 6, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Preferred memorial: Convoy United Methodist Church.
