Cougar golfers lose to Bath squad

The Van Wert Cougars hosted league-leading Bath on Thursday in an important Western Buckeye League match-up. Despite a couple of strong performances by Justin Price and Adam Jurczyk, the Cougars were not deep enough to pull off the big upset, losing by 11 strokes 165-176.
Bath’s Evan Hall was match medalist with a 38, while Price and Jurczyk both had 40s on the day.
Other scores are as follows:
Van Wert – Brandon Hernandez, 44; Alex Miller and Nick Etter, 52; and Jacob Covey, 56.
Bath – Brady Garver and Spencer Stubbs, 41; Adam Vieira, 45; Eric Jordan and Logan Chandler, 46.
Van Wert’s junior varsity scores were as follows: Gabe Rollins, 54; and Carter Eikenbary, 57.
With the loss, Van Wert drops to 3-3 in the WBL and 3-4 overall, while the Wildcats are now 6-0 in league play.
The Cougars will return to action on Monday in a WBL home match against Celina.
