Cougar golfers downed by Celina

The Van Wert Cougars hosted the Celina Bulldogs in a Western Buckeye League golf match that went to the Bulldogs, 160-178.

The score was an indication that the cougars were unable to put up much of a fight. “We struggled right out of the gate, falling well behind in the first three holes and never really fought back,” said Van Wert Coach Jeff Hood.

The Cougars’ lead man was Justin Price, who had a seven-over 42. Celina’s Ryan Miller was match medalist with a 38, while two teammates, Kaleb Kuhn and David Jenkins, each carded 40s at Willow Bend Country Club.

With the loss, Cougars fall to 3-4 in the WBL and 3-5 overall. Van Wert returns to action on Thursday at Defiance.
