Knight v-ball team defeats Parkway

ROCKFORD — The Crestview Lady Knight volleyball team won a “Volley for the Cure” match against Parkway in four games on Monday. The Knights lost the first game, 22-25, but came back to take the next three by scores of 25-16, 25-21 and 25-18. Crestview is now 4-1 overall and will begin conference play Tuesday as the Knights travel to Ada.
“It was definitely a team effort, as we pulled together to come out with the victory,” said Crestview Coach Tammy Gregory. “After getting the slow start, the girls focused on taking care of the basics, and were able to get the momentum to swing our way.
“A great start to our busy week of five matches and good preparation to begin conference play,” Coach Gregory added.
Leading the way for the Knights were the following:
Serving — Mackenzie Riggenbach, 17/17 with two aces; Haley Helm, 15/16 with two aces; Mallory Bowen, 10/11 with two aces; Kirstin Hicks, 12/13 with one ace; Courtney Trigg, 8/8 with one ace.
Hitting — Trigg, 13 kills; Hicks, 12 kills; Helm, 9 kills; Megan Hartman, 5 kills; and Grace Callow, 4 kills.
Setting — Riggenbach, 23 assists; Helm, 10 assists.
Digs — Tianna Rager, 12 digs; Hicks, 8 digs.
The Crestview junior varsity team lost in two games, 15-25 and 23-25.
