Cougar volleyball team downs Kenton

The Van Wert Lady Cougars were back in action on Thursday as they traveled to Kenton to take on the Lady Wildcats in a Western Buckeye League volleyball match. The varsity team won a three-game match with Kenton by scores of 25-11, 25-15 and 25-15 to go to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the WBL.

The Cougar junior varsity team also was victorious, defeating the Defiance JVs in two games, 25-15 and 25-10.

Varsity stats leaders include the following:

Serving – Alexa Dunlap, 16/17; Amanda Coplin, 9/9; and Riley Jones, 9/9.

Hitting – Taylor Doidge, 7 kills; and Alexis Dowdy, 6 kills.

Defensive digs – Claire Gamble and Dunlap, 8 digs apiece.

Setting – Jones, 13 assists; and Coplin, 7 assists.

The Cougars will be back at home next Thursday when they take on Elida in another WBL match-up.
