Elks give to Youth Day event

Van Wert Lodge 1197, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, recently donated $200 to the Van Wert County Outdoorsman Association to help support its sixth annual Youth Day, planned for Saturday, September 21. The Youth Day is put on to introduce area young people to different shooting sports and to teach gun safety and marksmanship skills. Participants are offered the chance to try archery, air rifles, .22-caliber rifles and shotguns under close supervision by NRA-certified instructors and range safety officers. The event is free to all young people age 17 and under, and a free lunch is provided to all attending. An adult must accompany all youngsters. (Elks photo)
