Knight volleyball team edged by LCC

Crestview volleyball news

CONVOY — A volleyball match-up between Crestview and Lima Central Catholic usually goes down to the wire and this one was no exception, as the Lady Thunderbirds edged the Lady Knights in an exciting five games, 27-25, 18-25, 24-26, 25-20 and 14-16.

Crestview took the first game, 27-25, but then couldn’t find a rhythm in the second game, losing that one by a score of 18-25. The Knights came back to lead most of the way in the third game of the match, while forcing LCC to call both timeouts while trailing 5-10 and 14-20. However, Crestview then had to call a timeout with the T-Birds trailing by just a point, 23-22, and finally lost the game 24-26.

The Knights then regrouped to win the fourth game by a score of 25-20, but lost an intense fifth game 14-16 after leading 14-12 in the game.

“The girls worked hard, but we need to do a better job of keeping control of the game and not allowing teams to get back in it,” said Crestview Coach Tammy Gregory. “We will use this match as a team learning experience and become a stronger team mentally.

“When things get tough, we need to be the more aggressive team, keep the momentum and have the power to finish the game,” Coach Gregory added.
