“Farm Animals” is competition theme
By Rex Dolby
The Wassenberg Camera Club met last Thursday, Sept. 12, for a competition in prints and slides of “Farm Animals.” Beth Marcheck brought some photos she had taken at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. She was invited to show her pictures and the majority of those present picked the one of the peacock as the best of the group.

In the slide category, Nancy Gribler’s humorous picture of a horse at the Van Wert County Fair broke a tie vote for first place in slides.
Karl Gribler reported that the site of the Wassenberg Camera Club’s Quarter Auction, scheduled for Oct. 8, will be at Trinity Friends Church, 605 N. Franklin St. in Van Wert. Karl says there will be lots of vendors as well as impressive items and certificates to consider. Some of the items are for children or families, some come from OSU and NFL teams. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the auction starts at 6:30 p.m. People will have plenty of time to check out what all is available to bid on as well as to get something good to eat prepared by the church’s cooks.

President Will Hawkins designated our second meeting night, on Sept. 26, to clean pictures for the photography exhibit and to finish packing club items prior to the move to the armory. Club members willing to help should arrive by 6:30 p.m. to allow sufficient time to complete the tasks.
The club welcomed visitors Casey Patterson of Middle Point and Beth Marcheck to the meeting.
The club’s next meeting will be a work night on Thursday, Sept. 26, starting a half an hour earlier than usual at 6:30 pm.
