Cougar v-ball team loses to Celina

CELINA — The Van Wert varsity volleyball team lost in four games to the Celina Bulldogs during a match between Western Buckeye League leaders played at Celina on Tuesday evening. The theme for the match was “Competing for a Cause” and both teams wore pink jerseys.
The first two games of the match went to the Bulldogs, 25-21 and 25-16, but Van Wert came back to win the third game, 25-19. The Cougars got out to a six-point lead in the fourth game, but couldn’t hold off Celina, who won the deciding game 25-23.
Van Wert is now 13-5 on the year and 4-2 in the WBL. The Cougars will return to action on Thursday night at home when they take on Defiance in another tough league match.

Hitting — Taylor Doidge, 8 kills; Alexis Dowdy, 7 kills.
Defensive digs — Alexa Dunlap, 14 digs; Coplin, 11 digs.
Setting — Jones, 11 assists; Coplin, 5 assists.
The junior varsity team also lost to Celina in three games.
