Sheriff’s deputies probe rural burglary

Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office information

Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas M. Riggenbach has announced that deputies are investigating a daylight residential burglary that occurred in Pleasant Township on Tuesday morning.

Deputies were told that a woman approached a resident of the home, who was outside at the time. The woman suspect then struck up a conversation with the resident while both were outside.

While the two were speaking, a male suspect, who had at first remained in the suspects’ pickup truck, went into the home without the resident seeing him. While inside the home, the man stole money and property.

The woman suspect is described as white, 5-foot, 6 inches tall, weighing 110-120 pounds, with short light-colored hair, which was covered partly by a bandana. She and the white male suspect were in what was described as an older model, light-colored pickup truck.

Anyone seeing a woman or vehicle Tuesday morning matching this description, or who has any other information about the crime, can contact the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office at 419.238.3866 or online at www.vanwertcountysheriff.com (use the “submit a crime tip” link). People providing information can remain anonymous.

The Ohio Attorney General’s Office’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation was contacted to process the crime scene.
