Van Wert SWCD holds annual meeting

The Van Wert Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) held its 64th annual meeting on Thursday, at Vantage Career Center in Van Wert. Dinner was provided by Collins Fine Food.

An election was held for two supervisor positions on the SWCD Board of Supervisors’ five-member board, with Robert Gehres and Craig Pohlman re-elected to serve three-year terms commencing January 1, 2014.

Craig Higbie provided a report on conservation programs provided through the SWCD, while Danielle Matthews was recognized for receiving the SWCD’s scholarship award. Mark Keber received the Conservation Award, which is given to honor individuals for their conservation achievements.

Dave Jones was presented a plaque for completing five years of service on the Board of Supervisors.

A drawing was also held for door prizes provided by First Bank of Berne, Ag Credit, Farm Credit, Williamson Insurance, Merkle Insurance and Baughman Tile.
