Artists’ Exhibit and Sale closes Friday!
By Hope Wallace

These are the final days for the 24th Annual Artists’ Exhibit and Sale. We will be shutting down the exhibit on Dec. 20 at 5 p.m., so don’t miss the chance to see this great show and get your shopping in! Original artwork is an excellent gift solution for those last minute hard-to-buy-for folks, and it almost always appreciates in value. In addition you will be supporting those artists in our area who make Van Wert quite a bit more interesting! After closing on Friday, Dec. 20, we will be closed to the public until Jan. 7, 2014.
Throughout the new year we will continue to offer brick pavers in two different sizes to honor or memorialize a loved one, or to put your family’s name in our walkway near the pond area. You can personalize them any way you like. Some graphics are available. If you’d like to see a sample, just give us a call and we can provide the details. Proceeds of the sales of the pavers will help with landscaping and other expenses. The pavers will be installed in the spring along the reflecting pond.
Our Classic Watercolor Class will continue in 2014 on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m., as it has in the past. Instructor is Pat Rayman. While this is an ongoing class, newcomers are more than welcome! The cost for the morning watercolor class is $35 for members and $40 for non-members. Give us a call to sign up, and we will provide you a list of materials required.
An additional evening winter class – Pottery Throwing — will be offered Jan. 7 through Jan. 28, 2014, beginning at 6 p.m. The instructor is local potter Dan McMahon. Students will learn basic throwing techniques and create items for a mini-exhibit and reception to be held at the end of the class session. Mark your calendars for this exhibit on Feb. 4, 2014. Cost for this class is: $55 for members and $60 for non-members. All materials are included.
In February, back by popular demand, Matt Temple will put on his Anime/Manga hat to teach a class for ages 8 and up. Dates and details will be provided in a future column. Also in February, we hope to add some children’s art classes. We’ll be hammering out the details during our holiday shut down.
