Naomi R. VanDoren
Naomi R. VanDoren, 81, of Van Wert, died at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at Hearth & Home in Van Wert.

She was born December 30, 1931, in Sidney, the daughter of the late Horace W. and Cecile (Ireland) Knittle. On December 10, 1950, she married Kenneth E. “Skip” VanDoren, who preceded her in death on May 26, 2009.
She is survived by her children, David (Jennifer) VanDoren of Paw Paw, Mich., Vickie Moser of Edgerton, and Micheal K. (Dawn) VanDoren of Van Wert. She is also survived by six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Richard Knittle and Kenneth (Arlene) Knittle, both of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Gordon (Sonja) Knittle and Dennis (Shelley) Knittle, both of Van Wert; and two sisters, Louise Miller of Findlay and Marjorie (Dwight) Rhoades of Venedocia.
A son, Thomas E. VanDoren; and one brother, William Knittle, also preceded her in death.
Naomi was a retired employee of Sav-A-Lot grocery and also worked at the former Fishers Big Wheel store in Van Wert. She was a member and was very active in the Van Wert Women of the Moose chapter.
Naomi loved her family and friends, get-togethers, playing cards, cooking, the Chicago Cubs and all children.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, December 20, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are from noon-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
