Lancer girls lose to Columbus Grove

The Lincolnview Lady Lancers lost a hard-fought Northwest Conference battle with Columbus Grove, 70-54, on Thursday.

The Lady Bulldogs led 16-12 at the end of a quarter of play and were up by 12 points, 40-28, at the half. The Lancers were able to cut the deficit to nine points, 46-37, at the end of three quarters, but Columbus Grove outscored Lincolnview 24-17 in the final period for the victory.

Christine Stemen led the Lancers with 16 points, while Julia Thatcher added 12 points for Lincolnview. ‘Grove had three players in double figures, led by Sydney McCluer’s 16 points, while Jade Clement scored 15 points for the Lady Bulldogs and Sammi Stechschulte added 11 points.

Columbus Grove shot 45 percent from the field (24 of 53) – including 10 of 19 from three-point range – while the Lancers were 39 percent (21 of 53). Lincolnview hit 66.7 percent of its free throws (8 of 12), while the Bulldogs were 12 of 20 (60 percent) from the line.

Columbus Grove outrebounded the Lancers 30-22, while Lincolnview had two fewer turnovers, 14-16.
