Lady Knights get win over Lincolnview

The Crestview Lady Knights had a 10-point lead over the Lincolnview Lady Lancers by the half in the county schools’ Northwest Conference contest on Thursday. That’s also how it ended as the Lancers played Crestview even up in the second half to lose 44-34.

The Knights took a five-point lead in the first quarter, 13-8, and upped that to 10 with a 9-4 run in the second period. The Lancers cut Crestview’s lead by a basket in the third quarter with a 13-11 run to trail by eight, 33-25, by the end of the quarter.

The Knights picked it up a little in the fourth period, outscoring Lincolnview 11-9 for the final score.

Mackenzie Riggenbach led Crestview with 12 points, while Lindsay Motycka added 11 counters for the Lady Knights. Lincolnview’s Christine Stemen was the top scorer for the Lancers with 11 points, while Ashton Bowersock added 10 points.

Both teams shot well from the field. Crestview was 18 of 36 in field goal attempts (50 percent), while the Lady Lancers were 15 of 36 (41.6 percent) from the field. The Knights hit 3 of 10 from three-point range (30 percent), while Lincolnview was 3 of 8 from behind the arc (37.5 percent).

Crestview was 5 of 9 from the free throw line (55.6 percent), while the Lancers put away 1 of 2 free throws (50 percent).

The Knights also had the edge in rebounding, 19-15, while Lincolnview lost the ball three more times than Crestview (8-11).

With the win, Knights are now 10-1 overall and 4-0 on the NWC, while Lincolnview falls to 5-9 overall and 1-4 in league play.
