Ellen L. Kohn

Ellen L. Kohn, 77, of Ohio City, died at 7:25 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2014, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

She was born July 23, 1936, in Liberty Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Byron C. and Gladys Malinda (Brown) Stump. On September 11, 1954, she married Max Lee Kohn, preceded her in death on June 5, 2010.

Survivors include a son, Rick (Melinda) Kohn of Van Wert; two daughters, Nancy (Dannie) Boroff and Karen (Tim) Dull, both of Ohio City; one sister, Marcella Williams of Jackson, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Gribler of Goodyear, Ariz., and Janice Kohn of Ohio City; a brother-in-law, Terry Kohn of Hastings, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A brother, Doyt Stump, who was killed in World War II, and one sister, Glendora Allmandinger Girod, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 23, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Kevin Wilcox officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.

Calling hours are from 2-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, at the funeral home, where an Order of Eastern Star memorial service will be held at 7 that evening.

Preferred memorials: Ohio City Fire Department and EMS, or Ohio City United Methodist Church.
