Lady Lancers down Jefferson in NWC tilt

Lincolnview girls’ basketball

Julia Thatcher scored 20 points to lead the Lincolnview Lady Lancers to a 38-33 victory over Delphos Jefferson in Northwest Conference girls’ basketball on Thursday.

Riley Stockwell was the top scorer for the Lady Wildcats, with 9 points, while Hannah Sensibaugh added 8 for Jefferson.

Delphos took the early lead, 7-3, at the end of the first period and led by six, 17-11, at the half. But Thatcher led a furious comeback by the Lancers, who outscored Jefferson 27-16 in the second half to gain the victory.

Neither team shot well from the field. Lincolnview was 10 of 36 (27 percent) from the field, while the Wildcats made 10 of 35 (28 percent) of their field goal attempts. The Lancers won the game at the foul line, hitting 16 of 22 free throws, while Delphos was 12 of 20 at the line.

The Wildcats dominated on the boards, bringing down 33 rebounds to 22 for Lincolnview, but the Lancers held on to the ball better, with 9 turnovers, compared to 18 for Jefferson.
