VW Marlins compete at Marion YMCA

MARION — The YMCA Marlins traveled to Marion this past Saturday for a dual meet with the Marion Community YMCA.

The Marlins sent only nine of their swimmers and lost basically because they were outnumbered by Marion. Emma Pollock (9-10 Girls) finished first in all five of her individual events, while teammate Katie McVaigh (11-12 Girls) secured three firsts and two second place finishes.

In 13-14 Boys, Aaron Stant took first place three times and second place twice.  Also taking at least one first place were Tyra McClain (2), Ian Rex and Jayden Welker.

The Marlins have next week off before traveling to the Ottawa YMCA on Saturday, February 22.

9-10 Girls: Emma Pollock – 1^st 200 freestyle, 100 IM, 50 freestyle, 50 butterfly and 50 breaststroke. Anna Wasson – 2^nd 100 freestyle; 3^rd 200 freestyle; 4^th 50 butterfly; 5^th 50 freestyle.

9-10 Boys: Ian Rex – 1^st 100 freestyle; 2^nd 200 freestyle, 50 freestyle and 50 backstroke. Jayden Welker – 1^st 50 butterfly; 2^nd 50 breaststroke; 3^rd 200 freestyle, 50 freestyle and 50 backstroke. Kaden Woolbright – 2^nd 50 butterfly; 3^rd 100 freestyle; 5^th 50 freestyle and 50 backstroke.

11-12 Girls: Risa Pollock – 2^nd 200 freestyle, 100 IM, 500 freestyle and 50 breaststroke; 3^rd 50 freestyle. Katie McVaigh – 1^st 100 IM, 50 Butterfly and 100 Freestyle; 2^nd 50 Freestyle and 50 Backstroke.

13-14 Boys: Aaron Stant – 1^st 200 Freestyle, 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle; 2^nd 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
